Mirchi (Hindi for Chili) is a typeface that took form inspiration from stone carvings and a chili. These two oddly different sources of inspiration led to this elegant but sharp typeform.

The construction of this typeface was centered around it's sharp features and tapering curves, while keeping a consistent vertical stress throughout all the characters.

Making individual matra's and their variants for characters was a fun challenge. It was after making the typeface that the type specimen designs came into play.
It was interesting seeing how far the aesthetic usage of a newly created typeface could be stretched to create unique specimens.
